TIP Pest Control: Hive beetle and mites. If your hive has these pests it can deter the bees and limit honey production. They can also make your bees abscond. Get some tobacco leaves and put them in your smoker. Smoke your hive thoroughly at the entrance. After some time the beetles will run out the entrance. This is your chance to kill them.

TIP Using the smoker: Before entering the hive smoke inside the entrance, always wait two minutes before disturbing the bees. This way they are less likely to attack you.
